The ICC, in coordination with CONRED, the Red Cross, and the Magdalena sugar production company, contributed with the transfer of knowledge on disaster risk management in a training process in which 100 people participated. The purpose of this training was to create Local Coordinators for Disaster Reduction (COLRED).
Community leaders and neighbors residing in: Terrero, Arenal, Ceiba Amelia of Escuintla; and San José La Gloria, Rusia, Santa Isabel and Línea C-18 Ixil of Retalhuleu, were the ones who acquired new capacities for risk reduction. The project was supported by the municipalities of La Gomera, La Democracia and Retalhuleu, to prevent and protect human life.
