At the facilites of the CENGICAÑA, located at km. 92.5, to Mazatenango, Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla; the closing ceremony for the accreditation of the participants of the Diploma Certification on Forest Landscape Restoration took place. This Training Certification was coordinated by the South Coast Restoration Network.
This training process included participants representing the ICC, – – Instituto Privado de Investigación sobre Cambio Climático (ICC)–, the National Forestry Institute – – Instituto Nacional de Bosques (INAB)–, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources – – Ministerio de Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (MARN)–, the private sector, workers of the municipalities and community leaders of the South Region of Guatemala.

The Director of the INAB Region IX (South Coast), Luis Alfredo Vela, M.Sc., assured that “the inter-institutional effort between ICC and INAB successfully aimed to transfer different techniques and methodologies to the participants on restoration ”

Furthermore, the Watershed Integrated Management Program Coordinator of the ICC, Juan Andrés Nelson, invited all people working on the restoration subject to join the South Coast Restoration Network since “the Network is an space to meet other partners and enhance the regional action”, said Nelson.
