The first “Risk Management Fair” was held in Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla to emphasize the role of education in protecting and training young people for a disaster-free future. This first edition was organized by the Municipal Risk Management Unit, in the framework of the International Day for Disaster Reduction, celebrated annually on October 13th.
Carlos Gamboa, the regional delegate for Integrated Disaster Risk Management processes of CONRED, said Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa is one of the first municipalities in the country to hold a risk management fair, while also expressing gratitude for the support of all organizations involved in the activity.
The ICC had the opportunity to share information with the students related to disaster preparedness, aiming to promote a culture of prevention in Guatemalan society, especially among children and young people.
