The process to establish a Restoration Network in Southern Guatemala started today. This network will be formed by several key actors from the region, and will be led by the National Institute of Forests INAB and the Private Institute for Climate Change Research ICC, with the support of the World Resources Institute WRI.

The objective of this network is to encourage the restoration of the forest landscape, through strengthening actions, and by promoting strategies that involve local actors.

To fulfill this goal, the network aims to identify opportunities to promote forest restoration, boost actions, and maximize resources. This network will also promote the synergy between members when implementing projects altogether.

To establish the network, 46 people representing municipalities, civil associations, private businesses, community leaders, and professionals from the ICC and INAB gathered today at the facilities of the ICC in Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla.
