On May 11, 12 and 13, representatives of the ICC participated in a tour of exchange of experiences related to productive forest restoration in Petén, carried out with the support of the Rainforest Alliance.
In this activity, in which different public and private sector institutions participated, as well as neighbors from different local communities, some models of agroforestry, silvopastoral and agrosilvopastoral systems were presented, which incorporate different short-, medium-, and long-term productive elements, which are complemented with the financial support of forestry incentive programs.
The tour was attended by: Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and Food (MAGA), National Forest Institute (INAB), FONTIERRAS, Magdalena Sugar Production Company, the ICC, the community “31 de Julio” of Ocos, San Marcos, the Municipality of Nueva Concepción and the Municipality of Champerico.
