Currently, the Private Institute for Climate Change Research ICC is participating in the 5th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction as part of the Delegation of Guatemala that attended and is participating in the conference hosted in Cancun, Mexico.

This activity has gathered delegations from 193 countries and it has been driven about the agreements within the Framework of Sendai and the integration of the public-private sectors in the disaster risk management for the sustainable development, as well as the importance of the early advisory systems as a tool within the processes to prepare and understand risk.

Talking about the exchange of global experiences in risk management, the President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, highlighted the importance of this platform since it allows all sectors to integrate.

On the ICC side, German Alfaro and Francisco Fuentes, both professionals of the Disaster Risk Management program of the ICC, are currently participating in the event.

About the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (Global Platform) recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, is the main global forum for strategic advising, coordination, development of associations, and verification of progress when implementing international instruments in disaster risk reduction. It was established in 2006 and it is nowadays the main worldwide forum for interested and committed parties to reducing disaster risk and to build resilience in communities and nations.
