The team of the National Secretariat of Science and Technology (SENACYT) led by Ana Chan, visited the facilities of the ICC, in Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla.
During the visit they learned about the operation of the meteorological stations network, which has 30 stations located in the Pacific of Guatemala, and generates information on precipitation, temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind speed and direction.
Luis Reyes, operations director of ICC, highlighted that the institute generates scientific information to contribute to the implementation of climate change mitigation and adaptation actions in the country.
Amy Molina, hydrology researcher at ICC, explained the process of data collection and analysis from meteorological and hydrometric stations, as well as how this scientific information is disclosed to different partners and allies.
A presentation was made of the technological equipment used by the ICC for various research actions related to meteorology and water resources.
At the end of the tour, the national secretary of the SENACYT, invited the ICC to participate in the National Innovation Award 2021, in the category of innovation for development.
