On January 22, 2021, staff from the Disaster Risk Management Programm (GdR) of the Private Institute for Climate Change Research (ICC), received a visit from members of the Transmission Department of the National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED), as part of the inter-institutional coordination with the Executive Secretariat and of actions in the area of comprehensive disaster risk reduction in the area.

During the visit, CONRED representatives reviewed the CONRED frequency repeater antenna, to provide preventive maintenance, in order to guarantee communication between radio bases within the Pacific slope and the Fuego volcano complex. The repeater station is located in the facilities of the Guatemalan Sugarcane Research and Training Center (CENGICAÑA).

The activity ended with a coordination meeting, and a presentation from the Disaster Risk Management Programm (GdR) of the ICC on the results of the PREPIN project, funded by the ECHO office of the European Union (EU), in the Coyolate and Achiguate river basin in relation to the mapping of floods.
