Floods are one of the climate-related phenomena that have caused the most damage and losses worldwide. In southern Guatemala, communities in the lower part of the Coyolate river watershed had suffered the effects of this phenomenon for the last decades; however, the village of Canoguitas in the municipality of Nueva Concepción, Escuintla, tells now a completely different story.
