A specialized workshop was held on drone management, information analysis and photogrammetry with a basic-intermediate QGIS course. The training was focused on technical staff of the risk management offices of Escuintla, Sacatepéquez and Chimaltenango municipalities, belonging to Region V, Central.
During the activity, attendees acquired practical and theoretical knowledge that will enable them to improve their skills in the use of advanced technologies for risk and disaster management. The main objective of the workshop was to provide advanced tools for site analysis, planning, evaluation and decision making, especially in disaster risk management.
The event was organized in coordination with the institution “Vivamos Mejor” and the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED). This capacity building process was carried out within the framework of the “Ixchel-Edinburgh” project, financed by the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Under this project, other processes were also carried out with members of the Local Coordinators for Disaster Reduction (COLRED) of the region, due to the threat of lahars in the communities of the lower and middle part of the basins.
