Water is central to the work of the ICC and its management is the backbone of climate change adaptation.
At the ICC we monitor:
rivers and their main tributaries to generate useful information for sustainable use and strengthen water resource governance in the region.
We have:
automatic hydrometric stations that collect accurate information on river water levels every 15 minutes.
We monitor the water levels and quality of:
community wells in 3 areas of the southern coast, in order to know the conditions of the resource and its trend over time.
We participated in:
watershed management plans elaboration and the conformation of their technical committees, supporting the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in compliance with governmental agreement 19-2021, through the GEF-UNDP project.
We have:
meteorological stations in Guatemala and El Salvador, which generate valuable information for crop management, watershed analysis, drought and flood risk studies, among others.
In 2022 we started our flow measurement course, which have trained technicians and students in related areas.
