A team of botanic consultants visited the Sipacate Naranjo National Park last April 12th, as part of a field trip to study the botanical and ecological component of the project “Elaboration of a Technical Assessment, Law Initiative, RAMSAR Information Sheet and Master Plan for the conservation of the Sipacate-Naranjo marine-coastal area”, which started earlier this year.
Professionals from the Private Institute for Climate Change Research -ICC-, and the National Council of Protected Areas -CONAP- visited the National Park along with the botanic consultants. With this field trip, the field work for this project was started. It is expected to visit the area again in the upcoming weeks.
Objective
The main objective of the project is to elaborate the tools to manage the Sipacate Naranjo conservation area, including its land and marine areas, to guide, organize and establish the rules for its future sustainable management along with its management category. This investigation is supported by the United Nations Program for Development UNPD and funded by the Global Environment Fund, GEF. This project is expected to finish by 2017.
