In the last weeks of October, the ICC monitored 90 community wells of the alluvial fan of the Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes, which covers the Achiguate, Acome and Coyolate basins.
This monitoring is performed periodically since May and allows ICC to have information about the current situation of the water table in the area.
In comparison with the data gathered in August and October, the level of the underground water increased in 0.35 meters. This is due to the effects of the rains in the area, which have reloaded the aquifers.
Monitoring wells will continue through the end of 2016.
